Flying ice is a danger to drivers, and it's illegal, too

Flying ice. It's not a phrase you hear very often, but it describes a very real problem in Alaska. Flying ice is the ice that collects on the top of vehicles that comes off when the vehicle travels down a highway or on a roadway of another kind. While it might not seem very serious, the truth is that the ice could impact another vehicle or cause a driver to swerve, putting them and others in danger.

Are accidental shootings prominent in Alaska?

No one wants to see a child get hurt. It's tragic, and in some cases, children die from injuries that adults might be able to survive. One of the major problems in America is accidental shootings among minors. Whether it's a toddler who finds a friend's parent's gun or your own child who stumbles upon one in your home, the risk is very real.

What the statute of limitations means for your case

When you're planning to make a wrongful death claim, it's important to understand the amount of time you have to make a claim before you can no longer do so. Limitation periods are normal no matter what kind of a lawsuit you want to file. You need to know how soon your claim must be made, so you can file the claim prior to that date. For example, most states want you to file a wrongful death action within two to three years, although you may be able to use the discovery rule to file the claim much later than that.
